Daily Note 29/05/2024 – Market View: Day Ahead, Macro, Stocks, Debt Markets

  • Macro: It was mixed session for equities yesterday as the EuroStoxx600 finished down, whilst in the US, the S&P500 was flat and the Nasdaq, driven by Nvidia, closed higher. Later today, MBA mortgage applications will be released out of the US at noon. At 1, we will have the May German CPI release when headline inflation is expected to have ticked up by 20bps to 2.4% on a YoY basis. Then at 7pm, the Fed will release its Beige Book. In terms of central bank speakers, we will have John Williams from the Fed and Villeroy will take the stand from the ECB.
  • Stock: Flutter’s shares were weak yesterday, ending the session down 7%, as the Illinois senate passed unfavourable legislation that includes hiking taxes on sports betting.
  • Debt: Core bond yields moved higher on strong US Consumer Confidence.
