Daily Note 28/05/2024 – Market View: Day Ahead, Macro, Stocks, Debt Markets


  • Macro: It was a quiet day for equities yesterday with the US and UK being closed for national holidays. In Europe, the EuroStoxx600 finished the day higher. Later today in Europe we have the ECB’s Eurozone CPI expectations (Apr 2.9% exp @09:00), Irish Retail Sales for April, UK’s May CBI reports retailing sales. In the US we have FHFA and S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller house prices (March +0.5% and +0.3% MoM est. respectively @14:00), The Conference Board Consumer Confidence index (May 96 exp @15:00) and Dallas Fed Manufacturing Activity (May -12.5 exp @15:30).
  • Stock: There is no corporate news today.
  • Debt: Core bond yields finished a few basis points lower yesterday in a very quiet day for markets.
