Daily Note 26/09/2024 – Market View: Day Ahead, Macro, Stocks, Debt Markets

  • Macro: Markets ended the day mostly weaker yesterday, with the S&P 500 down slightly and the Nasdaq up slightly, as markets lacked direction from mixed housing data, and traders ponder on the Fed’s next move. In Europe, the Stoxx 600 broad index was also down marginally. Later today we get EU Money supply, which is expected to expand by 2.5% in August. Then in the US we get the third revision to Q2 GDP statistics at 1.30pm, as well as Durable Goods orders, which ex transportation goods is expected to be +0.1%, finally jobless claims data is forecast to show 223k initial claims and 1.828m continuing claims.
  • Stock: We have updates on Flutter, Diageo and Volkswagen.
  • Debt: Core bond yields moved higher yesterday on mixed economic data.
