Inspiring Futures: Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland’s Transition Year Programme

Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland’s Transition Year (TY) Work Placement Programme offers students a unique and immersive introduction to the world of finance and professional services. Designed to inspire, educate, and empower, the programme continues to grow in popularity, earning a reputation as one of the most rewarding TY experiences in the country.

Each academic year, the programme runs twice—once in the autumn and once in the spring. Each session spans one week and is limited to just 24 participants, ensuring a focused and personalised experience. Throughout the week, students take part in interactive workshops, collaborate in project teams, and present their final work to an audience of Cantor Fitzgerald employees, teachers, and family members. On completion, participants receive a certificate of achievement—an excellent addition to any CV and a meaningful way to showcase their experience and skills.

What truly sets the Cantor Fitzgerald TY Programme apart is its emphasis on personal connection and tailored support. Students are placed in small groups and assigned dedicated mentors who guide them through the week. This structure provides a practical, behind-the-scenes view of the financial services sector while fostering meaningful relationships and peer learning. As one student reflected, “We came in as strangers, but left as friends.”

In addition to gaining professional insight, students also develop essential life skills such as communication, public speaking, collaboration, and problem-solving. Parents consistently note the boost in confidence and motivation their children display after the programme, often remarking on the positive impact it has on their outlook and ambitions.

At Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland, we are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, explore new possibilities, and realise their potential—whether in finance or any other field.
