Daily Note 24/05/2024 – Market View: Day Ahead, Macro, Stocks, Debt Markets

  • Macro: It was a weak day for equities yesterday as the EuroStoxx600 finished modestly up, whilst in the US both the Nasdaq and the S&P500 fell, as markets factored in delayed rate cuts. Later today in Europe we get French business and manufacturing confidence and production outlooks. At 13:30, US Durable Goods Orders (Apr -0.8% exp) and Capital Goods orders (+0.1% Apr exp) are released, then at 15:00 May’s final University of Michigan survey data (May 67.7 exp) are released.
  • Stock: GSK had a positive result in a jury verdict in Illinois. (Comment Attached)
  • Debt: Core bond yields were up, driven by stronger PMI data around the globe.
