Daily Note 15/05/2024 – Market View: Day Ahead, Macro, Stocks, Debt Markets


  • Macro: It was a positive session for markets yesterday as FED Chair Powell reassured the market following hotter-than-expected PPI data out of the US. The Eurostoxx600, S&P 500 and the Nasdaq all made gains. From an economic standpoint today investor attention will be drawn to the various releases out of the US, the most important of these will be the April CPI data at half 1. The report is expected to illustrate that inflationary pressures are easing, with the headline figure falling on a YoY basis to 3.4% from 3.5% in the prior month.
  • Stocks: This morning, Allianz reported a generally positive set of earnings.. (Comments Attached)
  • Debt: Core bond yields were mixed yesterday on differing economic data across regions.
