Daily Note 08/05/2024 – Market View: Day Ahead, Macro, Stocks, Debt Markets

  • Macro: It was a mixed session for equity markets yesterday with the EuroStoxx600 and the S&P500 both advancing, whilst the Nasdaq pared some of the gains it made to start the month. From an economic perspective this morning, German industrial production declined for the first time this year during March, however, the drop was less severe than forecast (0.4% vs 0.7%).
  • Stock: PTSB released a steady Q1 trading statement while Ryanair CEO warned of weaker Summer pricing than previously planned.
  • Debt: Core bond yields moved lower yesterday ahead of various US treasury auctions across multiple maturities later in the week.
