Daily Note 02/07/2024 – Market View: Day Ahead, Macro, Stocks, Debt Markets

  • Macro: Equity markets were broadly positive yesterday with Europe, S&P 500, the Nasdaq all ending the session higher. The strong performance in the US was driven by large cap technology stocks. From an economic standpoint today, it is a quiet day with JOLTS Job openings data @ 15:00 and Ward’s Vehicle Sales. In Europe, we get EU CPI and unemployment rate (both @10:00). Central bankers speaking include the Fed’s Goolsbee, as well as Powell and a number of ECB members at the Sintra ECB Forum.
  • Stock: Ryanair issued a solid monthly passenger update for June.
  • Debt: Core bond yields moved higher as political developments drove sentiment.
