Daily Note 25/04/2024 - Market View: Day Ahead, Macro, Stocks, Debt Markets
- Macro: Markets were mixed yesterday with European equities finishing down , whilst in the US, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq closed broadly flat. From an economic perspective, later this morning, the ECB’s economic bulletin will be watched closely when released at 9.00 as it forms the basis for the Governing Council’s policy decisions. US Q1 GDP data is released at 13.30 with a read of 2.5% expected, whilst a slowdown from the prior quarter (3.4%) it’s above the pace expected at the start of the year.
- Stock: There are earnings updates from AstraZeneca, Barclays and Nestle. (Comment Attached)
- Debt: Bond yields moved to YTD highs after the stronger than forecast German IFO.
